1982; St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union’s achievements to date are many and stand out as a proud example of the possibilities that exist when people pool together to do something positive. This Credit Union started with only 15 members and less than one thousand dollars. Today, it now has over 6, 170 members strong and has assets exceeding forty one million Eastern Caribbean dollars., We are pleased to have held close to the guiding Co-operative Principles that include the encouragement of the financial independence of our members. We are also confident that technology will play a vital role in enabling us to effectively address the needs of our increasingly diverse membership. The introduction of this web site serves as a way of educating and keeping in touch with you, our members and owners. We encourage you to make good use of it. After 25 years of serving you, our team of staff and volunteers are even more enthused, dedicated and determined to not just meet but to exceed your expectations. As part of its operating principles, the St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union Limited continues its intrepid efforts to give back socially to its members as well as the wider community. During the institution’s celebrations of International Credit Union Day on Thursday 21st October, the Credit Union recognized and donated to two upstanding members who have through their own contributions given back to the Federation. The two members were given a monetary contribution to assist them and they are namely Mr. Earle Clarke and Ms. Venetia Clarke. Mr. Earle Clarke is known by all in the community for his positivity and kind words to those who are feeling down trodden, ill or bereaved. However, Mr. Clarke has also been a longstanding member of the St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union and his dedication and love for the Credit Union Movement is clearly demonstrated in the passion with which he serves. He is a strong advocate and has encouraged many to become members of this institutio n. He has also served on the Credit Committee for several years. Ms. Venetia Clarke is also a dedicated member of the St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union. She was a teacher for many years however when her only child, Kailah James, became paralyzed Ms. Clarke made the sacrifice and gave up her teaching profession of nineteen years to look after her daughter. Under her current situation, Ms. Clarke is unable to commit to a normal work schedule and this weighs heavily on her financial stability. She tries odd jobs in order to support both her daughter and herself. This is often times very difficult but they thank God for life, his blessings and his mercies. They have a positive outlook on life and are thankful for any show of kindness or concern expressed to them and others. The St. Kitts Co-operative Credit Union Limited is extremely honoured, by the dedication of both these members, and has made small contribution towards their medical expenses. These two exemplary members are only a fraction of the body of members that the institution is privileged to have.
